PURPOSE: A stairway up-down apparatus for wheelchairs is provided to reduce power consumption or installation costs by allowing a person in wheelchair to step up or down on a stairway easily. CONSTITUTION: A stairway up-down apparatus for wheelchairs comprises a pair of guide frames(100), a mount(200), a pair of drive wheels(300), a power transmission(400), and a fall prevention unit(500). The guide frames are arranged in parallel on both sides of the guide frame along a stairway. The mount is supported with the guide frame to ascend and descend along the guide frame. The drive wheels are attached to both sides of the mount and rotated with hands. The power transmission unit transfers the torque of the drive wheels to lift up and down the mount. The fall prevention unit is coupled to the power transmission unit to keep the mount from falling.
