PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact ink jet device. SOLUTION: In the ink jet device 100, after only the inside of a reference pressure chamber 7 is brought into a decompressed state of a fixed level, the remaining capacities of sub-tanks 2A, 2B, and 2C in pressure chambers 6A, 6B, and 6C are calculated from changes in pressure in the reference pressure chamber 7 when the pressure chambers 6A, 6B, and 6C communicate with one another. If the calculated remaining capacities are equal to or greater than a fixed value, filling of the sub-tanks 2A, 2B, and 2C with ink is started and also inflows are monitored through pressure changes.
