<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly stop a mechanism which is driven by an electric motor, when an electric wire between a battery and the electric motor is cut. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Construction machinery is equipment with the mechanism which is driven by the electric motor connected to the battery. A control unit for the construction machinery controls the operation of the electric motor. A detection means for detecting a state of an electric current which flows through the electric wire between the battery and the electric motor is connected. When the cutting of the electric wire is detected on the basis of the result of detection by the detection means, the state of the electric motor is switched to a short-circuited state.
