Preparing a three-dimensional object (3) from a powder (11) comprises selective sintering of the powder by electromagnetic radiation, where the powder comprises a polymer or copolymer, which contains at least one aromatic group that non-linearly links to the main chain. Independent claims are included for: (1) the three-dimensional object obtained by the above method; (2) a device, for preparing the three-dimensional object by the above method, comprising a temperature-control unit, which is configured for adjusting the determined cooling of the object after completing the preparation of the object; and (3) a production plant comprising the above device and the powder comprising the polymer or copolymer.
