<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a throughput decrease and a stoppage of paper conveyance caused by the erroneous detection of a sensor for detecting a paper width when paper of indeterminate size is conveyed. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes an image forming part for forming an image on paper; a paper conveying path for conveying paper to the image forming part; the sensor for detecting the paper width in an orthogonal direction to the conveyed direction of paper; and a control part for determining a conveying state in the paper width direction based on output from the sensor and controlling the conveyance interval of the paper based on the determined result. The control part sets the conveyance interval to a predetermined conveyance interval regardless of the determined result according to the paper width of predetermined paper and the paper width detectable by the paper width sensor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
