PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform superior resistance spot welding near a spot welding zone and a partially strong contact part while sufficiently reducing ractive current without substantially changing welding conditions of the resistance spot welding, even in the presence of a spot welding zone and a partially strong contact part between steel plates. SOLUTION: In the vicinity of the joining part 3 for joining the steel plates 1, 2 and having conductivity in the steel plates 1, 2 that are arranged to be superimposed, a welding electrode 4 and a back electrode 5, which are arranged to be opposed to each other with the steel plates 1, 2 between, are allowed to abut on each other, so that the steel plates 1, 2 are resistance-welded. The steel plates 1, 2 on which the welding electrode 4 or the back electrode 5 abuts are provided with slits 1a, 2a that are formed in a manner dividing at least a part of a region 25 connecting the joined part 3 and the part on which the welding electrode 4 or the back electrode 5 abuts.
