The method involves placing an edge (3) of a lamp cover (2) at a retainer of a carrier element (1) overlapping of with an edge (4) of the element. An adhesive (11) e.g. 2-component adhesive, is arranged in an overlapping region of the edges of the respective cover and element. A pin shaped stopping unit (12) is arranged in the edge of the element and in the edge of the cover in a press-fit manner in the overlapping region. A part (7) of the edge of the element is heated such that the stopping unit is arranged in the overlapping region in the heated condition of the edge of the element. An independent claim is also included for an illuminating device comprising housing.
