PURPOSE: A master roll for patterning a light guiding member and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to overcome non-uniformity of the pattern quality processed on the surface of the master roll by plating the surface of a roll iron core with nickel-phosphor(Ni-P). CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of a master roll for patterning a light guiding member comprises following steps. A roll iron core is prepared. The surface of the roll iron core is plated with nickel-phosphor. The roll iron core plated with nickel-phosphor is patterned. The phosphor content of the nickel-phosphor plating is 14%~18%.
