In the present invention, there is disclosed a street lamp comprising at least one electrical light source (21) for lighting a street and a radio transmitter (17) with a receiver for repeating messages being received by this transmitter (17) with the receiver, whereas the radio transmitter (17) with the receiver is connected to a control module (18) for controlling the electrical light source (21). A connecting member for remote control of the electrical light source (21) includes a socket (15) for receiving the electrical light source (21), the radio transmitter (17) with the receiver, the electrical connecting member, which is in an electric connection with the socket (15), a control module (18) for connecting or disconnecting the electric connection between the electric connecting member and the socket (15), whereas the radio transmitter (17) with the receiver is connected with the control module (18). A radio network for remote control of municipal street lighting or another lighting includes at least one street lamp (1a), whereas the radio transmitter (17) with the receiver forms a local radio-transmitting hub (1) of the radio network. According to a method for remote control of the municipal lighting in the radio network, there is sent a control message via the radio network to the local radio-transmitting hub (1), which receives this control message and executes it. There is also disclosed the use of the radio network in providing radio services in processing messages or in operating unswitched or mobile telephone network.
