SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING OPTICAL CHARACTERS

PURPOSE: An OCR(Optical Character Recognition) system and a method thereof are provided to perform mass character recognition as improving efficiency of the character recognition by quickly recognizing only a necessary part if an arbitrary document has a document form where a recognition domain is set. CONSTITUTION: A document form setting unit sets a document form and a character recognition domain of the document. An image registering unit(300) inputs a document image in which character recognition will be performed. If the document image has the set document form, a character recognizer(400) recognizes a character by comparing a character within the recognition domain with a reference value generated by character study. A data storage unit(500) stores data generated in the document form setting unit, the image registering unit, and the character recognizer.
