The control method has a sampling signal voltage applied to the parallel sampling lines of the liquid crystal display cell matrix and data signal voltages applied to the intersecting signal lines at a given relative time interval, for operation of the liquid crystal display cells positioned at the line intersection points. An Independent claim for a control device for a matrix liquid crystal display is also included.
