A disposable diaper that does not cause contamination of the wearer's skin by bodily wastes. The disposable diaper (1) has a skin contact sheet strip (32b) provided on the inner face side of a liquid permeable top sheet (32). A U-shaped front opening (38) and a U-shaped rear opening (39) that allow bodily wastes to pass through them toward the top sheet (32) are formed at positions in the front-rear direction (A) of the skin contact sheet strip (32b). An intermediate section (35) is formed between the front opening (38) and the rear opening (39). Elastic members (37) extended in a stretched condition in the front-rear direction (A) are arranged at side sections (40) on both sides of the sheet strip (32b). Leakage prevention dams (58) are formed on the outer sides in the lateral direction (B) of the sheet strip (32b). At a position between a free edge section and a base edge section of the leakage prevention dam (58), each side section (40) of the sheet strip (32b) is joined to the corresponding leakage prevention dam (58).
