PURPOSE: A display device, a display panel driver, a display panel driving method, and a method for providing an image data to a display panel driver are provided to reduce power consumption by omitting overdrive processing when an image data of a display memory is not changed. CONSTITUTION: A display panel driver drives a display panel(2) in response to an image data provided from outside, includes a display memory(22) for storing the image data, performs overdrive processing about the image data read from the display memory, and includes an overdrive processing control circuit(29). The overdrive processing control circuit controls operation and stop of a circuit used in the overdrive processing by detecting a record inside the display memory of the image data.
