Heater for flow media and method for its manufacture

A heater unit (20) forms part of a hot isostatic extrusion press and has a duct wall (30) with an embedded heater (1) wire (5) within an insulating sheath. The sheath is made of material that remains stable at the high temperature and pressures found under production conditions. The insulation sleeve is a spiral tube made of e.g. sintered magnesium oxide. The two ends of the sleeve are elongated and project beyond the duct ends. Each end of the heater wire has a contact element. Further claimed is a process to fabricate a hot isostatic extrusion press heater from metal powder.
