<p>An upright vacuum cleaning appliance (10) includes a main body (14) having a user operable handle (94), separating apparatus (100) for separating dirt from a dirt-bearing air flow and a casing (74) housing a fan unit (76) for drawing the air flow through the separating apparatus. A support assembly (16) is connected to the main body (14) for allowing the appliance to be rolled along a surface using the handle (94). The support assembly (16) includes a pair of domed-shaped wheels (40, 42) which each have a substantially circular rim (40a, 40b). The overall size of the appliance is reduced by locating the casing (74) between the wheels (40, 42), and providing an air duct (130) which extends between the rims of the wheels (40, 42) to convey the air flow from the separating apparatus (100) to the casing (74).</p> |
