339,302. Selenophon Licht-und Tonbildges. Aug. 2, 1929, [Convention date]. Optical records; duplicating.- Comprises a method for arbitrarily varying the intensity of a photographic sound record by subjecting the sound record after printing, to a second arbitrarily controlled illumination. 1, 2 and 3 indicate the magazines for the picture and sound negatives and for the positive film, respectively. 4 is the picture gate, 5 the gate where the sound record is printed, and 6 the printing lamp. A second lamp 7 with a regulating diaphragm 8 is provided by which the normal record of the positive film can be arbitrarily modified. By this additional illumination a veil is formed which extends over the whole of the record and affects its transparency. By the aid of the diaphragm 7 the density of this veil can be regulated. Instead of controlling the light by the diaphragm 8, the lamp 7 may be provided with a variable resistance.
