The present invention relates to a sensor and a system for detecting the presence of liquids. The sensor comprises an oscillator circuit whose output alternately has a low logic value and a high logic value, and two electrode pairs (EL1, EL2) adapted to be immersed into liquids.
The electrode pairs are connected to the oscillator in a manner such that the duration (t 1 ,t 2 ) of the high logic value and of the low logic value depends upon the impedance across a respective electrode pair (EL1, EL2).
