TETRAGONIA TETRAGONIOIDES EXTRACTS HAVING ANTIDIABETIC AND CHOLESTEROL-LOWERING ACTIVITIES

PURPOSE: A functional material isolated from Tetragonia tetragonioides extract is provided to ensure anti-diabetes through suppression of α-glucosidase, α-amylase, and aldose reductase without cytotoxicity. CONSTITUTION: A Tetragonia tetragonioides extract having cholesterol suppression activity in blood and anti-diabetes activity is an organic solvent extract isolated using organic solvent such as methanol. The Tetragonia tetragonioides is also fraction of n-hexane(HX), dichloromethane(DCM) and ethyl acetate(EA). A composition for blood cholesterol reduction and anti-diabetes contains methyl-4-(2-tridecylphenyl)butanoate isolated from Tetragonia tetragonioides or methyl-3-cyclopentyl-2,3-dimethylbutanoate as an active ingredient.
