<p>The invention relates to a method and equipment for casting anodes. The mass of each anode (2) is measured out and weighed by a weighing machine (6). The surface temperature of the mould is measured by a first surface temperature measuring device (7) immediately after casting in the mould and before the cooling stages. Calculation means (8) are used to calculate the initial heat volume of each anode on the basis of a given or measured temperature and the mass of the anode. The initial heat volume of a corresponding mould is calculated on the basis of the measured surface temperature and the mass of the mould. On the basis of the initial heat volumes of the anode and the mould and the casting speed used, the rejected heat volume, which must be removed from each anode at the cooling stages to achieve the desired final temperature of the anode, is calculated. On the basis of the rejected heat volume, the cooling water volume needed at the cooling stages is calculated to achieve the desired final temperature of the anode. Each anode is cooled with the calculated cooling water volume. Control means (9) are arranged, according to an instruction given by the calculation means (8), to adjust the cooling water volume sprayed by the quench condensation equipment (4).</p> |
