The locking procedure, especially for fastening a thin outer plate (20) to the hub (10) of a motor vehicle clutch mechanism assembly, consists of making projecting teeth (5) on the outer surface of the cylindrical hub, making the plate from a softer material than the hub and with a central hole of a diameter between the tips and roots of the teeth, and joining the two components together axially with a force fit so that the teeth engage with the material of the plate. The hub is moulded from fritted metal with a high degree of hardness, and the plate is stamped from a softer metal.
