A process and apparatus for green body extrusion

In a process and apparatus for the extrusion of a green body from a paste or suspension of particulate material in a liquid, the suspension is supplied to and substantially fills an extrusion chamber at a low pressure of less than 20 bar. A high pressure of at least 80 bar is applied to the suspension on completion of filling whereby the suspension is forced through a moulding spaced with a dewatering section defined by at least partially liquid-permeable walls. A substantial part of the liquid is removed by establishing a pressure differential across at least parts of the wall that are permeable to said liquid, to form a non-flowable shaped body of the particulate material.
