Prognosis prediction for melanoma cancer

Provided is a method for determining the prognosis of melanoma in a patient, comprising the steps of; (i) determining the expression level of an Molecular Prognostic Marker (MPM), or of a prognostic signature comprising two or more MPMs, wherein one of the MPMs is milk fat globule-EGF factor 8 protein (MFGE8) in a melanoma tumour sample from the patient, (ii) establishing a prognosis, by comparing the expression level of the prognostic signature to those of known prognostically good and poor tumour samples. Further provided is a device for performing the prognosis method.
