A shaped insert for the soundhole of an acoustic guitar has numerous embodiments. The insert is alternatively of two piece construction. In each embodiment, the insert has a forward portion that is used to secure to the inside edge of the soundhole. Its attachment is stated to impart a new and distinctive sound to the stringed instrument in which it is installed.
