摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to inspect an energizing path for a motor without bringing discomfort to a user or providing any additional circuit in a motor driving device applied to a system of fail-safe design. <P>SOLUTION: In self-diagnosis processing, a motor is actually rotated in a reverse direction so that a first member is returned to its initial position and a clutch is disengaged (S210 to S260). The motor is actually rotated in a forward direction only for a time shorter than a time it takes for the first member positioned in the initial position to be engaged with a second member (S270 to S320). It is determined whether or not each of the circuits comprising a seat belt ECU is normal based on a detected current value detected while the motor is driven (S330). Therefore, the time for which the motor produces driving force in the forward direction during the execution of the self-diagnosis processing is only a specific time.
