<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveyor capable of conveying sheets in such a way that the sheets will not wrinkle even if the conveyor is used for a long time. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sheet conveyor 20 is provided with a first and a second chain 30A, 30B provided with a plurality of retaining mechanisms 40A, 40B for releasably retaining sheet edges S11, S12; a drive means 50 for driving the first chain 30A in the direction in which the first retaining mechanism 40A retaining the first sheet edge S11 is moved in a conveyance direction D1 and for driving the second chain 30B in the direction in which the second retaining mechanism 40B retaining the second sheet edge S12 is moved in the conveyance direction D1; and a drive ratio adjustment means for adjusting the ratio of a number N2 to a number N1, where N1 is the number of links 31, 32 of the first chain 30A driven in unit time and N2 the number of links 31, 32 of the second chain 30B driven in the same unit time.
