The present invention relates to a method of producing an applicator (100) by means of 2-component technology, and to a corresponding applicator (100) which can be used, for example, for distributing a cosmetic substance over the skin, semi-mucous membrane, mucous membrane or hair. The invention proposes improved anchoring of the soft component (102) on the hard component (101) by the formation, between the hard component (101) and the soft component (102), essentially of a connecting region (104) which is arranged in the hard component (101) and has, as connecting element, a part of the soft component (102) which is arranged in the interior of the hard component (101). In the case of the production method according to the invention, the soft component (102) is injection moulded on the hard component (101) at at least one injection point through at least one opening (108) in the region of the circumference of the hard component (101), and therefore the soft component (102) can be injection moulded via at least one channel (105), which runs in the interior of the hard component (101) from the at least one lateral opening (108) to one end of the hard component (101), and a part of the soft component (102) which is located in the interior of the hard component (101) creates positively locking anchoring.
