<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a changeover mechanism which can maintain the changeover mechanism in the specific state without spoiling the degree of freedom of a carriage movement, especially be able to maintain two or more states independently of the carriage. <P>SOLUTION: A power transmission changeover unit 50 is equipped with a drive roller 35, a power transmission part 54 which moves between the first and second positions located along with the axial direction and transmits a turning torque to a driven part, a coil spring 68 for energizing it towards the first position, and the carriage 40 for moving the power transmission part 54 from the first position to the second position by pushing a carriage engagement part 65a. The power transmission part 54 has an intermediate position between the first position and the second position.
