PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the damage of gear teeth of a pinion gear in a reverse prevention mechanism for a lever drag reel even if the size of the reel is reduced. SOLUTION: The reverse prevention mechanism 7 for a lever drag reel is a mechanism to brake a spool 3 rotatable relative to a reel body 1 and inhibit the reverse rotation, in a line-releasing direction, of a drag disk 42 to which the rotation of a handle 4 is transmitted through first and second pinion gears 21, 22. The reverse prevention mechanism includes a rotation member 30, a pawl member 31, and an urging member 32. The rotation member is a member having an outer periphery portion with rugged members 30a, arranged between the second pinion gear and the drag disk, and capable of rotating integrally with the drag disk. The pawl member is pivotally coupled to the reel body in a manner to position its tip end at an engagement position engaging with the rugged member to inhibit reverse rotation and a remote position separated from the rugged part.
