摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a high-accuracy small optical element in a simple process. SOLUTION: The method aims to manufacture an optical element 10 having first to fourth faces 10c to 10f perpendicular to a virtual plane, in which the first face 10c and the second face 10d are parallel to each other; the second face 10d and the third face 10e make an angleθ; the fourth face 10f is perpendicular to the first and second faces 10c and 10d, and the third face 10e is a mirror face. The method includes: a first step of forming the first face 10c by preparing a prism 20 having two faces making an angleθ, in which one face 20c of the two faces is defined as a processing reference plane and the other face 20d is formed as a mirror face, and grinding the prism from the opposite side to the processing reference plane 20c to a plane (A) parallel to the processing reference plane 20c; a second step of forming the fourth face 10f by cutting the prism piece along a plane (B) perpendicular to the processing reference plane 20c and parallel to a ridge line formed by the above two faces; and a third step of obtaining each individual optical element 10 by cutting a cut piece 40 including the above two faces along planes perpendicular to the processing reference plane 20c and to the fourth face 10f at a predetermined interval.
