A position control device (1) and a position control method are used for shape memory alloy actuators that move movable members by means of a shape memory alloy. In controlling the position of the movable member, when the amount of power supplied to the shape memory alloy member exceeds a prescribed first threshold, a specified value, which represents the position of the movable member as a control target, is changed so that the temperature of the shape memory alloy member is reduced.
