PAPER COATING COMPOSITION HAVING NANOFILLER

A coating composition for forming a coating for an oil and grease resistant barrier and a blocking resistance on a paper based substrate, where the coating composition includes a nanofiller having an aspect ratio of at least 25, a binder, and a crosslinking agent. The coating formed from the coating composition can provide both an oil and grease resistant barrier having a flat Kit Rating Number and a folded Kit Rating Number of 11 to 12, and a blocking ranking of 3 or less for blocking resistance of the coated paper based substrate. The coating composition can be used on a paper, a paperboard, or a fiberboard.
