The present invention relates to a mower comprising a chassis (1) bearing a harvesting mechanism (11) and a device (22) for relieving the load on the said harvesting mechanism. It is notable in that the load-relieving device (22) consists of at least one torsion bar (23, 24) which is connected to a transverse beam (2) of the chassis (1) and which carries a lever (25) to one of the ends of which is articulated a linkage (27) which is directed towards the harvesting mechanism (11) and which is itself articulated to the said harvesting mechanism (11) or the suspension device (15) thereof.
