<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an implement having a simple form for checking structures etc. capable of reliably distinguishing sounds generated by a rolling hammer even in large noise. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The implement for checking structures etc. has a rotating hammer 1 having a polygonal cross-sectional shape and rotation-freely mounted to a freely extending and contracting handle. The handle 2 is freely extended and contracted by a combination of a plurality of members. A part of the members constituting the handle 2 opposite to the side to which the rotating hammer 1 is mounted is hollow. A sound detector for extracting sounds transmitted via the hollow of the handle 2 is provided for the handle.
