PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of enhancing resolution in a main scanning direction, in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a light source having N pieces of light emitting parts configured so as to emit light beams based on inputted image signals respectively; an input means inputting image data; a signal generating means generating N pieces of image signals so as to constitute one-scanning image data, when the one-scanning image data corresponding to one scanning is extracted and combined based on the inputted image data; and a scanning control means scanning one and the same locus on a photoreceptor by N pieces of light beams emitted from the light source, to form a latent image corresponding to the one-scanning image data on the photoreceptor.
