<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for fuel reforming that can efficiently reform at a comparatively low temperature even ammonia or the like which hardly absorbs a microwave. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for fuel reforming decomposes a hydrogen nitride family fuel gas G containing at least one of ammonia and hydrazine by a catalytic reaction to generate hydrogen and nitrogen. The apparatus for fuel reforming is equipped with a reforming catalyst 23 containing one or more selected from the group consisting of transition metals and oxides thereof, a reactor 21 holding the reforming catalyst 23 where the supplied hydrogen nitride family fuel gas G and the reforming catalyst 23 contact each other and a microwave irradiation means 22 that irradiates and heats the reforming catalyst 23 with a microwave. When the reforming catalyst is irradiated with the microwave, the reforming catalyst itself is heated and activated. Further, since the hydrogen nitride family fuel gas has high reactivity with a catalyst metal, the reforming reaction is synergistically promoted with activation of the catalyst by the microwave. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
