CARBON NANOFIBER, METHOD FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF, METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF CARBON FIBER COMPOSITE MATERIAL USING CARBON NANOFIBER, AND CARBON FIBER COMPOSITE MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon nanofiber, a method for production thereof, a method for production of a carbon fiber composite material using the carbon nanofiber, and a carbon fiber composite material.

SOLUTION: Disclosed is the method for producing a carbon fiber composite material 50, which comprises a first step and a second step. In the first step, a first carbon nanofiber produced by a vapor growth method is oxidized to produce a second carbon nanofiber 40 having an oxidized surface. In the second step, the second carbon nanofiber 40 is mixed with an elastomer 30, and applying a shearing force to the resulting mixture to cause the homogeneous dispersion of the second carbon nanofiber in the elastomer 30, thereby producing the carbon fiber composite material 50. The second carbon nanofiber 40 produced in the first step has a surface oxygen concentration of 2.6 to 4.6 atm% as measured by X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS).
