PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of rotation irregularity by changing a linear speed difference between two rotary bodies when a countable value of an countable control item reaches a predetermined value, in an image forming apparatus provided with a cleaning blade which abuts on at least one of the two rotary bodies and cleans a surface of the rotary body. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus provided with the cleaning blade which abuts on at least one of a first rotary body and a second rotary body which are rotated while being in contact and cleans the surface of the rotary body is provided with: a first driving means for rotating the first rotary body; a second driving means for rotating the second rotary body; and a control section for controlling the first driving means and the second driving means so that the linear speed difference of the first rotary body and the second rotary body is varied when the countable control item reaches the predetermined value.
