<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that overcomes disadvantages like uneven gloss in page, fixing faults, and so on by solving the problem that supply of heat to a fixing nip delays when a sheet passes therethrough. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a temperature detector 83 for detecting temperatures of a fixing member 82 including a heat roller and a fixing belt, a leading end detector 85 for detecting the timing of the passage of the leading end of a recording sheet through a relative position to which the recording sheet has returned upstream in a conveyance path by an amount corresponding to a distance by which the recording sheet is conveyed until a fixing belt portion located in the heating position of the heating section 81 reaches a fixing position; and a temperature controller 87 for performing normal temperature control which performs on-off control of heat application part 81 based on detected temperature until the passage of the leading end, for keeping the heat application part 81 on until the detected temperature reaches switching temperature if the detected temperature does not exceed switching temperature and heat application part 81 is off before detection when the sheet passes through, and for resuming normal temperature control when the detected temperature reaches predetermined switching temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
