PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for extrusion foam molding which is suited in obtaining a high closed-cell structure having uniform and fine cells even at a high expansion ratio, and to provide a foam obtained by using the same which excels in cushioning characteristics, appearance, and odor resistance. SOLUTION: The resin composition for extrusion foam molding comprises a propylene-based polymer (X) constituted by a component (A) which becomes insoluble in p-xylene at 25°C and a component (B) which becomes soluble therein, the polymer having (i) a weight average molecular weight (Mw) measured by GPC of 100,000-1,000,000, (ii) a hot p-xylene insoluble component of not more than 0.3 wt.%, (iii) a degree (λmax) of strain hardening in measuring elongational viscosity of not less than 2.0, (iv) an MFR (at 230°C under a load of 2.16 kg) of 0.1-20 g/10 min, and (v) a melt tension (MT) measured at 230°C by a melt tension tester of not less than 5 g, and a blowing agent.
