<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the complication of depressing a key to switch a mode when inputting alphabetic characters and kana (Japanese syllabary) characters, and to input kana (Japanese syllabary) characters including voiced-sound symbols and semivoiced-sound symbols by the use of one key. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A keyboard is configured such that both alphabetic characters and kana (Japanese syllabary) characters including voiced-sound symbols and semivoiced-sound symbols can be inputted by the use of one key by making keys for inputting characters as 4-direction switches and increasing the number of rows in the keyboard to four times as many as that in a conventional keyboard.
