<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means of automatically imaging a recording image, by capturing the instantaneous change in an object, or the like, with high accuracy, even if the operating speed of the imaging apparatus is relatively slow. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes an imaging device, a movement detection unit, and a control unit. The imaging device creates data of the recording image by imaging an object image in an imaging region, and creates data of an evaluation image, by partially reading a signal, in a partial region of the imaging region. The movement detection unit detects the change of the object by using the data of a plurality of evaluation images which differ in the imaging timing, respectively. The control unit starts an imaging process of the recording image accompanying a recording operation in a nonvolatile storage medium, when the magnitude of the change of the object detected by the movement detection unit exceeds a threshold.
