<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily achieve a semiconductor laser device which includes a reflection preventing function of a return light. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser device includes a substrate 11 of whose main surface the plane orientation is (1-100); a semiconductor laminate 12 formed on the substrate 11, which includes a stripe-shaped optical waveguide; and a plurality of pyramidal protrusions 13 formed at least at a portion of outgoing edge surface in the substrate 11.
