<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor forming stable images in which graininess is excellent, tones are gently switched and contours/pseudo contours are not easily recognized, and to provide an image processing method, a recording medium and a program. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image processor has a storage means for storing image data, and a control means for receiving commands and multivalued image data from an external apparatus such as a computer, performing halftone processing on the image data, binarizing them and storing them on the storage means. When the control means performs the halftone processing, for the area of the gradation level of at least a highlight part in the input image data, a regular screen structure corresponding to the gradation level is provided on the center part of the area of the same gradation level, the area comprising the end part of the area of the gradation level and the end part of a different gradation level adjacent to the end part of the area of the gradation level is tone-expressed by dots and the dots are irregularly arranged.
