<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video projection apparatus using a reflection type liquid crystal panel as a video display element, the video projection apparatus having the improved efficiency of using light while eliminating the need for a polarization conversion element. <P>SOLUTION: The video projection apparatus is mounted with an optical engine provided, as the video display element of the video projection apparatus, with two reflection type liquid crystal panels 11, 12. Specifically, the two reflection type liquid crystal panels 11, 12 are disposed by intersecting their central perpendiculars orthogonally with each other through a polarization beam splitter. Then, the reflection type liquid crystal panels 11, 12 are subjected to color field sequential driving control.
