<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device for effectively suppressing light leakage without sacrificing an aperture ratio. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises a pair of substrates 1 and 1a, a liquid crystal 10 held between the both, and a polarizing plate 21 disposed on the substrate 1. The polarizing plate 21 converts externally incident light to a linear polarized light, and the liquid crystal 10 controls the transmitting state of the linear polarized light according to voltage. The substrate 1 includes a scanning line 12, a signal line 13, and a pixel disposed at an intersection thereof. The pixel includes: a transparent pixel electrode 17 for applying the voltage to the liquid crystal 10 which is located in a transmitting area of the linear polarized light; an active element 14 which drives, when selected by the scanning line 12, the pixel electrode 17 according to a signal supplied from the signal line 13; and a wire 30 connecting the active element 14 to the pixel electrode 17 in the transmitting area. The linear polarization axis of the polarizing plate 21 is set in a direction oblique to the scanning line 12, and the wire 30 has an end portion which is parallel or vertical to the linear polarization axis, whereby preventing light leakage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
