<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool having a tool changer with higher cleaning function capable of positively removing foreign materials adhered to the end face of a main spindle, and a tool changing method using the tool changer. <P>SOLUTION: An L-shaped plate 8 is installed on the outer side surface of a movable cover 7, the plate 8 protruding further laterally. A pair of brushes 9, 9 are disposed in a chevron shape on the upper surface of the L-shaped plate 8 opened and expanded in the protruding directions. With the main spindle 4 moved to a predefined cleaning position Q2 and the brushes 9, 9 in contact with the distal end face 4a of the main spindle 4, the distal end face 4a of the main spindle 4 can be cleaned by rotating the main spindle 4 at a low speed. Therefore, cutting chips (such as those stuck by a cutting liquid) which were not removed by a conventional tool changer which simply relies on air jetting can now be positively removed, eventually contributing to an improvement in machining accuracy of a main spindle device 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
