PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate communication in a content centric network. SOLUTION: An interest in a piece of content is received from an interest owner at a first node (200). It is determined whether content available at the first node satisfies the interest (210). If so, the content is sent to the interest owner (220). Otherwise, the interest is marked as pending (230), and the interest is forwarded to a second node in the network (240). After receiving content from the second node in response to the forwarded interest (250), the interest as pending is unmarked (260) and the content is sent to the interest owner (270).
