PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor free from defects, such as, wear or scratches due to repeated use of the photoreceptor, the defects relating to the output image quality of an image forming apparatus, as well as, being less apt to cause uneven image density, and is capable of forming an image of high image quality over a long period of time. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor has, at least a charge generating layer and a charge transport layer successively deposited on a conductive support, wherein the charge transport layer is formed, by using a coating liquid for a charge transporting layer, with the liquid containing a phenol derivative having at least a methylol group; a polycarbonate resin;and a charge transport substance, and by heating to crosslink at least two components in the phenol derivative, having a methylol group, the polycarbonate resin and the charge transporting substance.
