<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a postprocessing device capable of guaranteeing continuous printing and printing quality, without depending on printing operation of an image forming device, even when a paper interval becomes large with a paper put on standby once in an intermediate carrying passage. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A means is added for measuring stopping time of first paper in the intermediate carrying passage, and restriction is arranged on the stopping time of the paper, and when second paper is not carried, operation is set for waiting for carrying of the second paper by carrying the first paper on the intermediate carrying passage to a postprocessing tray. The first paper on the intermediate carrying passage is carried to the postprocessing tray, and when the second paper is carried in a paper postprocessing device from an image forming device, a carrying passage is opening by driving a carrying passage shielding gate after the second paper is carried to the intermediate carrying passage, and the first paper and the second paper are simultaneously carried to the postprocessing tray.
