OPTICAL DEFLECTION DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical deflection device in which the offset of scanning light is made correctable so as to relux the accuracy of mounting position when being mounted.

SOLUTION: The optical deflection device includes an optical deflector 10 which deflects the light from a light source 12 and an optical detector 14 which detects information about the deflection angle of deflected scanning light 19. The optical deflector 10 includes an oscillation system having a plurality of oscillating bodies which are rockable, a driving means 18 which applies torque on the oscillating bodies and a driving control means 16. The oscillation system is so configured to simultaneously generate a first oscillation motion which operates at a first frequency which is a basic frequency and a second oscillation motion which operates at a second frequency which is an integral multiple of the basic frequency. The driving control means 16 supplies a driving signal 17 which is made by synthesizing the first and the second signals of the first and the second frequencies to the driving means. The driving control means 16 supplies a driving signal to the driving means to vary at least one of the amplitudes of the first and the second oscillation motions and the phase differences of the first and the second oscillation motions for correcting the offset of the scanning light.
